IMF Staff-Level Deal Could Unlock $1.6 Billion for Egypt

Egypt secured a staff-level agreement with the IMF on June 30 that could disburse about $1.6 billion pending board approval, bringing total disbursements under existing facilities to roughly $7.2 billion. The deal comes as growth for the first three quarters of FY2025/26 reached 5.2 percent and net international reserves stood at $53.1 billion at end-May. Remittances continued their strong upward trend while inflation stayed elevated near 14.6 percent in May.
